Traffic Safety Week Observed By NBU Students at Shivmandir

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 23rd December, 2016: The students of the Department of Mass Communication, University of North Bengal observed a “Traffic Safety Day” today at Shivmandir more. The students had organized a rally from B. D. O office to Shivmandir more. The event started at 11am with the release of balloons by the Assistant Professor Mr. Subhrojyoti Kundu, Assistant professor Ms. Deepika Thapa and ASI Pradip Bhowmick, ASI Ashok Majumder and ASI Raj Kumar Das. The students distributed leaflets, badges to everyone and sweets to those who were not wearing the helmets and asked them to make use of it while riding and asked them to follow the traffic rules. Some co-operated while few resisted. It was found that from 11am to 1pm around 300 riders were without helmets and more than 200 did not wear their seatbelts. The entire team of Shivmandir Traffic Police co-operated with them.
